“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.” - Aaron Siskind

Photography is something that we all have in common. A photograph can connect us to our past. It reminds us of stories we share or people or places we know. It can evoke so much emotion and feeling just by looking at it. Photographs can help us know who we are and where we came from. I remember many nights sitting with my mom on the couch looking at photo albums and asking questions like who is that? Who are they to me? These days I am sitting on the couch with my kids with my phone mirrored to our TV scrolling my photo gallery. One thing is the same though, the emotion and the smiles from my kids. Photography helps kids to explore their creative side from their viewpoint of the world. It encourages curiosity, exploration, visual communication, and the critical thinking skills they will need later on in life. Check out some of the options below that I offer for kids interested in learning more about photography.

Kids Photography Camps

In this 3 part photography camp your child will learn beginning photography concepts including:

  • Camera basics (How to operate, hold camera, camera care)
  • Introduce what exposure, ISO, Shutter Speed, Aperture, White balance all mean
  • History of photography
  • Types of photographers
  • Composition & posing (candid vs. posed)
  • Importance of light

Plus, your child will create their own digital portfolio with images you can print and frame at home. We will start in my studio and venture outside to West & East Bridge Park in Monticello to capture nature based images through the eyes of your child.
